(MENAFN) According to reports, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks in Tashkent on Tuesday with World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to discuss ongoing efforts to modernize Uzbekistan’s healthcare system and strengthen cooperation with the UN health agency.

The presidential press service stated that both sides acknowledged a new phase in their partnership, noting that collaboration with the WHO has developed to a higher level in recent years.

Authorities highlighted that Uzbekistan is implementing broad and structured healthcare reforms with technical and advisory support from the WHO, aligned with international standards and recommendations.

The cooperation has contributed to the development of key strategic documents focused on improving primary healthcare services, strengthening disease prevention systems, and enhancing the training of medical professionals.
